Mission
The mission of the Engineering Division is:
- To provide leadership and guidance in establishing design and construction standards for new and existing infrastructure
- To establish, administer, and maintain rules held to promote the health, safety, morals, comfort, prosperity, and general welfare of the city
- To provide assistance to citizens and others with the goal of making city government easy to understand and relate to
- To foster professional development and engineering principals, resulting in a better place to live, work, and do business
City Engineer / Supervision
The city engineer is responsible for organizing, planning, assigning, directing, and supervising the work of the Engineering Division. This is done by:
- Conferring with and advising developers proposing expansion of public infrastructure
- Establishing standards for design and construction for public infrastructure
- Overseeing and approving the procurement and work of all engineering consultants
- Preparing operating and capital budgets
- Representing the city as technical liaison regarding all engineering-related matters
