Moody's Investors Service recently assigned a Aaa rating to the City of New Berlin, WI's $8.2 million General Obligation Promissory Notes, Series 2019A. Concurrently, Moody's has maintained the Aaa rating on the city's general obligation unlimited tax (GOULT) debt. This is the 9th consecutive year that New Berlin has received this Aaa rating – the highest rating possible.
As stated in Moody’s ratings rationale, “The Aaa rating reflects the city's stable operating reserves and unused levy capacity which offsets state imposed levy limits. Also incorporated are a growing, wealthy tax base, moderate long-term leverage and elevated fixed costs due to rapid principal amortization.”
“We are extremely proud of our Triple “A” rating, the highest rating possible;” stated Mayor Dave Ament, “New Berlin is one of only 4 cities and villages in Wisconsin to hold that rating. We will continue to bring a more business-like and fiscally conservative model to our city-operations and our budgeting process. ”
